Utah Tech sophomore safety
Brevin Hamblin was named United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts in the Trailblazers' season finale at Southern Utah this past Saturday afternoon.
Hamblin (6-5, 205; Syracuse, Utah/Syracuse HS) enjoyed a banner afternoon against the Thunderbirds, during which racked up a career-high 16 total tackles, including 2.0 tackles-for-loss, and one pass breakup.
However, the biggest play the sophomore made came on the final play of regulation when he blocked SUU's possible game-winning 51-yard field goal attempt, which sent the game to overtime.
Hamblin's 16 tackles tied him for 10th place on Utah Tech's single game tackles list, while his field goal block was the first of his collegiate career, and the Trailblazers' second blocked field goal defensively this season overall.
