(Laramie, Wyo. - Nov. 16, 2024) - The Trailblazer men's basketball team fell at Wyoming, 86-69 on Saturday night at Arena-Auditorium.
Getting its eight-game road swing underway at the Mountain West opponent located at 7,220 feet, Utah Tech (1-3) saw a season-high four Trailblazers finish in double figures.
Led by a career-high 16 points from sophomore guard
Tennessee Rainwater, the Blazers also saw double figures from
Beon Riley (14),
Noa Gonsalves (13) and
Britton Berrett (12).
How It Happened
The Trailblazers jumped out to a 10-9 lead after a three-pointer from Gonsalves.
A 7-0 run for the Cowboys pushed Wyoming in front 16-10, but the Blazers quickly answered back with a pair of jumpers from Gonsalves and a layup by Riley to knot the game at 16 midway through the opening half.
The Cowboys responded with a 14-0 run, holding the Trailblazers without a field goal for nearly five minutes, before a layup by Gonsalves ended the scoreless drought with just under five minutes to play.

Unisa Turay in the final seconds of the opening half made it 42-28 in favor of the Cowboys at the half.
The second half saw Wyoming stretch its lead to as many as 28 before the Trailblazers ended the game on a 21-10 run over the final 6:19 of action.
Numbers To Know
- It was the first official game between Utah Tech and Wyoming as the two had previously met in an exhibition in Laramie on Dec. 29, 2018, falling 65-63.
- The Trailblazers fall to 0-4 against Mountain West opponents and will face two more MW foes in December traveling to Boise State and Utah State.
- Rainwater set a new career high in a second straight game, after previously scoring 13 points on Wednesday against Bethesda, while adding five rebounds (team leading) in 21 minutes of action.
- Coming into the game with only eight total points in the first three games, Berrett scored a season-best 12 points off the bench, including sinking all five free throw attempts, in 15 minutes of play.
- Utah Tech shot 35.6 percent (21-59) from the field, 20Â percent (5-25) from the three-point line and 71.0 percent (22-31) from the free throw line.
- The Trailblazers held an advantage in steals (8-7) and the two teams were tied in bench points with 32 apiece. Wyoming held the advantage in points in the paint (44-24) and fast break points (11-9).
