Trailblazers Fall in Straight Sets at UT Arlington

The Trailblazers are back home on Monday night to host Southern Utah at Burns Arena.

(Arlington, Texas - Oct. 19, 2024) - The Trailblazer volleyball team fell in straight sets at WAC leader UT Arlington on Saturday afternoon at College Park Center.

Utah Tech (10-7, 4-3 WAC) was led with 10 kills apiece by both Kennedi Knudsen and Lusia Langi while sophomore setter Marley Roe had a team-leading 18 assists.

Tessa Treanor and Mya Laufiso each tallied eight digs apiece while five different Blazers notched one service aces apiece.

With UT Arlington (18-2, 8-0 WAC) jumping out to a 10-1 lead in the opening set, UTA extended it to 11 at 14-3 with the Blazers only able to cut it down to seven as the Mavs won the set by 11.

The Blazers jumped out to a 9-7 lead in the second set after a kill by Adee Butler, but an 11-2 run from the Mavs pushed the home team in front, 18-11.

After a pair of points for the Blazers, four straight points for the Mavs pushed UTA ahead by nine, 22-13, going on to win the set that by margin.

With the Trailblazers looking to rally in the third set, UT took a 10-8 lead after a kill by Knudsen and pushed it to three at 12-9 after another kill by Knudsen.

A 10-2 run for the Mavericks put UT Arlington ahead 19-14. A kill by Langi kept the Trailblazers within three at 22-19, but that was as close as the Blazers could get being swept for only the second time this season.

The Trailblazers led the match in service aces (5-0), but UTA held the advantage in kills (44-34), blocks (8-0) and digs (47-33).

The Blazers are back home on Monday night to host Southern Utah (8-10, 4-3 WAC) at Burns Arena.
