(Salt Lake City – Jan. 20, 2024) - The Utah Tech women's tennis team closed out the weekend on Saturday morning falling to Montana State, 6-1 at George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
"The team played great today!," said head coach
Eric Pelton on the Trailblazers' performance. "They came out strong in the doubles, attacking the net and moving well and we were couple points away from picking up the win at both one and two doubles."
Battling tough in doubles, the Blazers took the Bobcats' top two double teams to the brink before falling late. In singles action, Utah Tech earned a point with at number six singles with freshman
Kylie Kezos pulling out a third set tiebreaker over Hudson Hawkins.
"We are right there, we just need to close it out!," Pelton added. "It's exciting considering we have three freshmen and a sophomore leading the way right now! It's a great start to the season with a lot of great things to come!"
The Trailblazers return to the court next Saturday for their home opener against Utah State (0-1) at noon at the Trailblazer Tennis Courts.
