(St. George, Utah – Jan. 12, 2024) Lexi Wilson has signed with Trailblazer softball, Head Coach Randy Simkins announced on Friday. A future graduate of the class of 2024, Wilson will join Utah Tech's program next fall.
"We're excited to add Lexie to our 2024 signing class. She will add depth in the circle as well as to our lineup," Simkins said. "She has very good strength and an easy pitching motion that gets better each time I watch her. I'm excited to watch Lexie grow and progress during her time as a Trailblazer!"
A First Team All-Region Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore, Wilson developed into one of the region's best pitchers during her junior season, earning recognition as a First Team All-Region pitcher and the Chaparral High School Defensive Player of the Year.
Playing travel ball for Arizona Storm, Wilson was an All-Tournament selection at the TCS Nationals, held in Georgia.
An avid reader who plans to major in Exercise Science with a focus on pre-physical therapy, Wilson fell in love with everything about Utah Tech during her visit.
"I fell in love with the community of St. George, this really is a dream school. I love the campus and the school community, and the people are very welcoming and friendly," she said. "The softball community and staff are amazing and I fell in love with the team and the coaches."
Wilson joins an incoming freshman class that also includes Jorja Crider (Infield / Eagle, Idaho / Middleton HS / Crossfire Fastpitch), Kennedy Embrey (Outfield / Farmington, Utah / Viewmont HS / USA Athletics), Rylie Haith (Outfield / Meridian, Idaho / Owyhee HS / Crossfire Fastpitch), Kinley Pappas (Catcher / Eugene, Ore. / Sheldon HS / NW Vandals) and Cemryn Pickett (Pitcher / Berthoud, Colo. / Berthoud HS / Texas Glory).
Trailblazer softball is set to begin its defense of the WAC regular season title in early February.
