(St. Charles, Mo. – Sept. 10, 2023) Utah Tech men's soccer played a road contest Sunday afternoon, defeating the Lindenwood Lions 3-0. The result moves Utah Tech back to an even 2-2 with two home games scheduled for next week.
 
Ethan Bell earned his first start of the 2023 campaign as both teams traded opportunities early. Andre Saucedo found a look and drew a corner kick after his attempt was blocked, before Stockton Short made the game's first save in the 7^th minute. Though both teams combined to create nine opportunities in the first half, it was level at the halftime break.
 
Utah Tech found its breakthrough early in the second half off the right foot of Austin Wallace. After a Lindenwood defender played it back, Wallace snuck in and slid the ball under the outstretched leg of the Lions' goalkeeper to open up the game's scoring. It would take another 20 minutes, but Wallace's career day continued later in the half.
 
Anthony Godinez played Bryce Backlund into the corner and Backlund's low cross found the foot of Wallace, whose right-footed shot was too hard for the Lion goalkeeper to keep out for his second goal of the afternoon. Just four minutes later, Backlund made it three to the far post as Utah Tech secured a convincing 3-0 road victory.
 
Wallace, along with AJ Ciampini and Jerod Allen led the team with two shots apiece as Utah Tech out-shot the Lions 11-8, which included a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Stockton Short made four saves to record his first shutout of the season as Miguel Regino played a season-high 56 minutes off the Trailblazer bench.
 
Utah Tech will play its next two games at home, hosting CSU Bakersfield (Sept. 14, 7 p.m.) and Gonzaga (Sept. 17, 11 a.m.).
