Utah Tech closed its WAC three-match homestand on the short end of a 7-0 dual match result against UTRGV on Sunday at the Trailblazer Tennis Courts.
 
The Trailblazers (2-14/0-5 WAC) just missed picking up an early point after splitting the first two matches of doubles play. Ya-Chi Hsu and Adithi Venkatakrishnan posted a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles, but the duo of Annemiek Sterk and Rachel Mellor saw their match go to a tiebreak before losing to Lea Karren and Barbara Martinez, 7-6 (7-5), at No. 1 doubles.
 
Utah Tech was swept in all six singles matches, though three of those six matches featured tiebreaks, including Venkatakrishnan's match at No. 3 singles, as the freshman won the first set 7-6 (7-4). The freshman dropped the second set, 6-2, before battling through an 18-point third set that ultimately went the way of the Vaqueros' No. 3 player Marjorie Souza, 10-8.  
 
Utah Tech will head down to Texas for its final road trip of the 2022-23 regular season next weekend. The Blazers will play at Sam Houston on Thursday, April 6, and at Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, April 8.
