Utah Tech fell victim to a late April Fool's Day Maverick rally as the Trailblazers lost their first WAC series of the season following an 8-5 setback at UT Arlington on Saturday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.

After spotting UTA a 1-0 first-inning lead, Utah Tech (21-13/6-3 WAC) struck for four runs in the fourth en route to a commanding 4-1 advantage. A one-out Maverick error allowed the Trailblazers to load the bases, and
Carly Eldredge unloaded them with a three-run double to center field.

Then after a
Tanya Windle single,
LB Kahahawai-Kekona doubled home another run to stretch the Blazer lead to three runs.

Utah Tech maintained its lead until the UTA (14-18/4-5 WAC) sixth, when the Mavericks hit three home runs as part of a seven-run rally to wrestle the lead back at 8-4.

The Trailblazers managed to get one of those runs back in the seventh, but could not complete a possible comeback as UTA closed out the home series win.

UT pounded out 10 hits in the loss, with Kahahawai-Kekona accounting for three of those safeties, while Eldredge finished with two hits to go with her three RBI.

Utah Tech returns home for a key conference series against Seattle U next Friday and Saturday at Karl Brooks Field.
