Utah Tech opened its 2023 WAC slate on a sour notes as the Trailblazers were defeated at New Mexico State, 7-0, on Friday at the NM State Tennis Center.

The Trailblazers played a pair of close doubles matches, with the duo of
Rachel Mellor and
Annemiek Sterk falling by a 7-5 count at No. 1 Doubles, while
Ya-Chi Hsu and
Adithi Venkatakrishnan came out on the short end of a hard-fought 6-4 result. UT was then swept in all six singles matches in straight sets. Â

Utah Tech returns to action on Saturday with a pair of matches at Eastern Arizona against host EAU and Weatherford College.
