Utah Tech women's tennis dropped the first match of a three-match trip to Las Vegas to UTSA, 4-1, on Friday afternoon at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Trailblazers lost two of the three doubles matches by 6-0 counts, though they held a 4-1 lead in the third match before it was ended to begin singles play.
Utah Tech's lone victory of the day came at No. 4 singles when
Annemiek Sterk was up 4-3 in the first set before her opponent, Fatima Gutierrez, was forced to retire. The Roadrunners claimed straight-set wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles, while the No. 3 singles match was not completed.
UT will continue the weekend's play on Saturday with a dual match vs. Kansas City at 11 a.m. (MT).
