Utah Tech opened play at the San Diego Torero Classic with a 10-2 loss to Boise State in five innings on Thursday night at USD Softball Complex.
After both teams went scoreless through the first two innings, the Trailblazers (3-3) broke through in the third when a two-out single from reigning WAC player of the week

Boise State (2-4) answered with three runs of its own in the home third, though Utah Tech got one of those runs back in the fifth with a
Carly Eldredge singled in home
Rachel Campbell to make it a 3-2 game.
However the Broncos would erupt for seven runs in the bottom of the frame, which included a two-out, three-run Sydney Groves home run to end the game.
The Trailblazers finished with five hits, two of which came off the bat of Eldredge. Freshman pitcher
Sauren Garton (L, 2-1) struck out two in 4.2 innings of work in suffering her first loss of the season.
Utah Tech continues tournament play on Friday with two games, starting with match-up against Wichita State at 10 a.m. (MT). The Blazer will then close day two against FDU at 12:30 p.m. (MT).
