(St. George, Utah – Oct. 8, 2023) Utah Tech men's soccer played Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 to the San Jose State Spartans. With the result, UT moves to 6-5 on the year with five games remaining in the regular season.

Bladimir Cuevas made his first start as a Trailblazer as the visitors forced
Stockton Short into action early, with the Utah Tech goalkeeper making a save three minutes into the contest. Despite the early stop, SJSU found a breakthrough in the 25
th minute to take a 1-0 lead and quickly found another in the 33
rd to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

UT looked close to cutting into the lead in the 66
th minute after high pressure created a one-on-one opportunity for
Damian Arguello, but the Spartan goalkeeper made a big save to preserve that 2-0 lead. Though the Trailblazer offense created several more opportunities down the stretch, the visitors would find a third with 26 seconds remaining to claim the 3-0 victory.

Abigay Gomez led all players with four shots across 82 minutes of action as Utah Tech out-shot San Jose State 17-5 in the game. Short would finish with two saves across 90 minutes of action; he along with
Julian Herrera and
Angel Saldana played the full 90 minutes while
Gavin Coe played 28 minutes off the bench in his first appearance of the season.

Utah Tech returns to action on the road next week, facing UNLV on Thursday before hosting Air Force on Sunday.
