With less than eight weeks to go before Utah Tech Football 2022 season opener, the Trailblazers announced their finalized 11-game schedule on Thursday.

Due to the University of the Incarnate Word announcing back on June 24 that it was backing out of joining the Western Athletic Conference, which was followed by Lamar University abruptly leaving the WAC to return to the Southland Conference last Monday, Utah Tech lost two games.

UT was scheduled to play at UIW (11/12), and was slated to host Lamar for Homecoming on Oct. 8. However the Trailblazers were able replace those two contests with not one, but two November home games, to maintain their 11-game schedule.

The first six games on UT's original schedule remain unchanged, with three of the Blazers' first four games coming on the road, beginning with a date at Big Sky Conference member Sacramento State on Saturday, Sept. 3. UT will open its now five-game home slate one week later against former RMAC foe Chadron State on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Utah Tech will remain in the Beehive State for its next two games, starting with a match-up against Big Sky member Weber State in Ogden on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Blazers will then kick-off their first full season of WAC play on Saturday, Sept. 24, with a showdown at new conference member and in-state rival Southern Utah in Cedar City.

UT returns home to host WAC member Abilene Christian on Saturday, Oct. 1, then after its bye week, the Trailblazers head to the Midwest to face FCS power and Missouri Valley Football Conference member Northern Iowa on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The Trailblazers will then play three of their final five games at Greater Zion Stadium, beginning with a home date vs. perennial FCS power Sam Houston on Saturday, Oct. 22. Following that game, UT will head out of state for the final time for a trip to Texas to square off against WAC member Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Utah Tech will close out its 2022 home slate with a two-game homestand, which starts with a non-conference return game vs. SUU on Saturday, Nov. 5. That game will mark the first time the Trailblazers will host the Thunderbirds on the football field in St. George since the two rivals played annually in junior college competition.

UT then wraps up the home schedule one week later with its WAC conference finale vs. Tarleton State on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The Trailblazers will put a bow on the 2022 season with a big road date at FBS member and in-state foe BYU at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Kick off for Utah Tech's first four home games will be at 7 p.m., while the start time for the home finale vs. Tarleton has yet to be finalized. Season and single game ticket information for the 2022 campaign will be announced in the coming days.
