Trailblazer Football Announces 2023 Early Signing Class

Utah Tech head football coach Paul Peterson on Wednesday announced his 2023 Early Signing Day class.

The class features 12 total high school student-athletes, seven of which are on offense, including one quarterback, one running back, two wide receivers and three offensive linemen. On the defensive side, UT signed three defensive backs, one linebacker and one defensive end.

"We landed some big time players in the early signing period," Coach Peterson said. "These student-athletes excel on and off the football field and will add great value to our program right away. The future is bright for the Trailblazers with these excellent additions."

Below is information on each of the 12 December signees. Utah Tech will announce its complete 2023 signing class on Wednesday, February 1.

Mason Obray
Defensive Back / 5-11 / 165  
Syracuse, Utah / Northridge HS

Served as team captain for the Knights and was a first team all-region and third team all-area selection in 2022 ... recorded two interceptions and 11 PBUs ... also collected two fumble recoveries and returned one for a touchdown ... tallied 671 return yards and housed one punt for a touchdown ... also played receiver and recorded a 63-yard touchdown catch ... earned first team all-region as a junior in 2021 and was a finalist for the Tuddy Award ... also lettered in track and was the region 200-meter champion and region runner-up in the 100-m ... has been listed on the honor roll all throughout high school, and earn high academic honors during the 2021-22 academic year.

Misiolo Maluia
Offensive Line / 6-3 / 280  
Las Vegas, Nevada / Bishop Gorman HS

Helped lead Bishop Gorman HS to consecutive Nevada state titles and was an all-Southern Nevada second team selection ... also played two seasons at Trinity (TX) HS and was a two-time Texas 6A first team all-district pick and earned Texas 6A-D1 all-state honorable mention accolades.

Nygel Osborne
Running Back / 5-11 / 195  
Inglewood, California / Millikin HS

Tallied 856 all-purpose yards and 19 total touchdowns, including 15 rushing TDs ... played in the United States Army Bowl ... is rated a 3-star RB and is a top-100 RB in the country by 247 Sports ... also recruited by Colorado, Arizona State, San Diego State, Kansas and Kansas State.

Offensive Line / 6-5 / 290  
Draper, Utah / Corner Canyon HS

Was a two-time all-region 4 selection and earned second team region honors this past fall  ... also recruited by Southern Utah.

Aiden Aguayo
Defensive Back / 6-1 / 175  
Mission Viejo, California / Jserra HS

Registered 34 total tackles, including 22 solo stops, and had two interceptions during his senior season ... was named Defensive MVP and was a first team all-Trinity League selection at DB ... also recruited by Southern Utah.

Michael Falatea
Defensive Back / 6-0 / 190  
Herriman, Utah / Herriman HS

Was listed an an ESPN 300 Elite Underclassman ... recorded five interceptions and 42 total tackles during his senior season en route to second team Utah 6A all-state honors ... tallied 1,400 all-purpose yards and scored six touchdowns, which was good enough to garner 6A all-state honorable mention accolades as an ATH.

Bryce Parker
Wide Receiver / 5-9 / 175  
Corona, California / Inglewood HS

Was a 2022 first team all-league selection who helped lead the Sentinels to the CIF Division 2 finals ... earned 2021 Offensive Player of the Year, All-Inland Area first team and CalHiSports All-State football honors ... also recruited by Louisville and Northern Arizona.

Luke Hansen
Linebacker / 6-2 / 190  
Farmington, Utah / Farmington HS

Was as two-time all-state, all-region and all-area selection at linebacker ... was named FHS Defensive Player of the Year twice ... racked up 173 career tackles, which includes 23 TFLs and 11.5 sacks ... also recorded six career interceptions.

Compton, California / Compton HS

Recorded 52 total tackles, including 21 solo stops, and recorded 5.0 TFLs with 4.0 sacks during his senior season.

Rancho Cucamonga, California / Rancho Cucamonga HS

Earned Baseline League Offensive MVP and first team all-Baseline League honors during his senior campaign, this after he was a second team all-league selection as a junior ... was presented with the Cougar Award, which is given to the best example of a student-athlete.

Naples, Florida / Gulf Coast HS

Broke GCHS career records for total yards (7,228 - 5,732 passing/1,496 rushing) and total touchdowns (61 - 41 passing/20 rushing) ... earned first team all-FCAC, CCAC and News-Press honors ... was named to the Class 4S District-16 All-District Team ... also recruited by Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee State, Georgia Southern and Fordham.

Wide Receiver / 6-3 / 180  
Rancho Cucamonga, California / Rancho Cucamonga HS

Finished with 67 career receptions for 975 yards and seven touchdowns during his prep career ... also lettered in track and finished 19th in the State of California in the 110-meter hurdles ... also recruited by USC, Montana, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Idaho and Idaho State.
