Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer stopped by Incarnate Word

Utah Tech men's soccer dropped a 2-0 road loss in a non-conference matchup with Incarnate Word on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Utah Tech came out playing an evenly matched game with Incarnate Word. The two teams went back and forth for the opening quarter hour of play before Larsen Rogers was able to find a shot that nearly found the back of the net.

The remainder of the first half was back and forth between the two teams and neither side was able to find a groove or find any consistent time on the ball. UIW was able to find a shot but nothing came of it. Headed to the halftime break it was level 0-0.

Right out of the gates in the second half UIW was able to find a breakthrough. Eduardo Perez beat his man and was able to get a powerful shot off that went just past goalkeeper Cuba Grant.

After the goal the Trailblazers looked to find an equalizer with Dunes Nielsen and Guglielmo Bianchi earning shots, but they were unable to find the back of the net with their attempts.

In the dying moments of the match UIW was able to put a second goal in the back of the net and the match would end 2-0 in favor of the home side.

STAT BREAKDOWN:  The Trailblazers had four shots with three on goal. Dunes Nielsen, Larsen Rogers, Guglielmo Bianchi and Carlos Vargas each registered shots.

Cuba Grant started and played the full 90 minutes in goal, making three saves and allowing two goals.

Incarnate Word ended the match with 7 shots, having five on goal. The team was shown two yellow cards, and their goalkeeper made three saves.

NOTES TO KNOW: The Trailblazers now have a 3-10-2 record on the season and have a 1-3-2 record in WAC play. The Blazers have scored nine goals this season and have two shutouts.

No Trailblazers were shown yellow cards in this match.
