Trailblazers set to host Utah Valley Saturday

OPENING TIP:  Dixie State women's basketball will return home to take on in-state WAC rival, Utah Valley January 8 at 3:00 p.m.

FAST BREAK
•  Dixie State is coming off a 1-1 weekend, picking up a 57-49 win over Tarleton State and a 71-53 loss to Abilene Christian.
•  The Trailblazers are 5-8 overall on the season and a 1-1 record in the WAC.
•  DSU is on a one game losing streak.
•  The Blazers have returned just two starters from last year.
•  Dixie State was picked No. 12 in the WAC preseason polls.
•  Head Coach JD Gustin is in his sixth season at the helm of the Trailblazers.

FIRST WIN OVER DIVISION I OPPONENT: Dixie State picked up it's first win over a Division I program against Tarleton State on Dec. 30. Emily Isaacson led DSU with a career high of 25 points popping off of 15 points in the fourth quarter. The Trailblazers had battled as they switched lead changes three different times and the scored tied five times.

BEANS AND THE TRIPLE DOUBLE: Junior, Breaunna Gillen recorded a triple double against Life Pacific with 14 points, 10 Rebounds and 11 Assists. She's the second Trailblazer in school history to record a triple double.
Previously during the 2009-10 season, Deanna Daniels recorded 10 points, 10 rebounds and 12 steals. The 12 steals is the current school record.

HOME SWEET HOME: Since joining the NCAA ranks in 2006-07, Dixie State has played to a 117-61 (.657) overall record in the Burns Arena. Under Head Coach JD Gustin, DSU is 38-28 (.575) at home which includes the 4-3 record this season.
      
ON THE DUSTY TRAIL: Dixie State has a 73-104 (.411) record on the road since joining the NCAA in 2006-07. Under Head Coach JD Gustin, the Blazers are 20-37 (.345) on the road. The Trailblazers are currently 1-6 on the road this year.

SEASON OPENERS: The Trailblazers are 9-7 in all-time season openers. DSU is 7-2 when opening the season in St. George and 2-5 when opening the season on the road.  Head Coach JD Gustin is 4-2 in season openers including this year's 107-57 win over Life Pacific. Gustin is 3-1 in openers at home, 1-0 in openers on neutral ground and 0-1 in openers on the road.

RECORD BREAKING SEASON DEBUT: Dixie State  started the 2021-22 season off with a bang. After not playing a single game in nearly a year, the Trailblazers opened with a record breaking game in the 107-57 win over Life Pacific.
•  Tied the most points in a single game with 107
•  Broke the record for most made 3-point field goals in a game.
•  Broke the record for most attempted 3-point field goals in a game.
•  #4 in school history in largest victory margin with 50 points
•  Tied #3 in school history for assists in a game with 28.

Utah Valley Quick Facts
•  The Wolverines come into the game with an overall 5-8 record and a 0-2 record in WAC play.
UVU is on a five game losing streak.
