Box Score Despite having a shortened roster, Dixie State women's basketball cae up with a big 82-70 victory over Chicago State Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened: Chicago State jumped out to an early 15-9 lead over Dixie State. With 3:23 left in the first quarter,
Talia Sireni nailed a turn around jumper that sparked a 10-0 Dixie State run. The run ended with a made three-pointer by Sireni and the Trailblazers had a 19-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, DSU pushed their lead out to nine points, but CSU brought it back within three points for a 37-34 score at the half.
Within 30 seconds of the second half, Chicago State tied the game up at 37-37. With four minutes left in the third quarter, Shanaijah Davison drained a three pointer that sparked a 15-1 Dixie State run. As the third quarter came to an end, Dixie State had a 59-48 lead over Chicago State.
Dixie State pushed their lead to 15 points at the halfway point in the final quarter of play. The Trailblazers maintained the momentum and finished out with a final score of 82-70.
Leaders: Dixie State was led by Davison who had her first double-double of the season and a season high in scoring with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Isaacson also had a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Breaunna Gillen had 16 points while
Talia Sireni added 14 points.
Comparison: Dixie State ended the game shooting 45 percent from the field, 34 percent from the three and 71 percent from the free throw line. The Trailblazers totaled 53 rebounds, 14 assists, eight steals and 20 turnovers.
Chicago State shot 37 percent from the field, 20 percent from the three and 60 percent from the free throw line. The Cougars ended the game with 38 rebounds, four assists, 11 steals and 11 turnovers.
Notes to Know: DSU is now 7-12 overall on the season and move up to 3-5 in WAC play. Dixie's 53 rebounds is the most they've had in a single game this season.
