Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Trailblazers hang tight in 1-0 loss to New Mexico State

The Dixie State women's soccer team hung tight in a 1-0 loss to New Mexico State Saturday afternoon. 

NMSU was the first to place a ball on frame in the fifth minute, but goalkeeper Adelle Brown came up with a save. In the fifteenth minute, Dixie State finally found the frame with a shot by Jill Bennett but the Aggies came away with the save. Dixie State took an offensive attack for the next five minutes coming up with three more shots. Neither team was able to find the net and the score was 0-0 at half time. 

The Trailblazers outshot the Aggies 8-6 in the first half. Brown came away with four saves in the first half.

In the 47th minute, NM State came up with a goal to go ahead 1-0. Dixie didn't let up however as they came up with a shot on frame by Bennett just one minute later and two more shots shortly after that. 

The Blazers couldn't find the net in the second half and the game ended and DSU came away with the 1-0 loss. 

In the second half DSU was outshot 12-5 by the Aggies. Brown ended up with three saves in the second half. 

Dixie State ended the game with 13 total shots with three on frame. Bennett and Griffiths each had five shots for the game high. Brown ended the game with eight saves in the net. 

NMSU had 18 shots with eight on goal. The Aggies goalkeeper ended the game with three saves. 

DSU now has a 2-8-2 overall record on the season and will return home to take on UTRGV April 1 and 3 for senior night. The Trailblazers final game of the season is April 10 at Utah Valley.
