Box Score Dixie State women's basketball suffered a 62-76 loss against Kansas City Wednesday night.
How it Happened: Dixie State didn't start out on the best foot as Kansas City went on an 8-2 run to open the first quarter, but DSU was able to recover and draw the game back to 13-16 with 30 seconds left in the first quarter.
Headed into quarter two the Trailblazers were down 13-18 and were unable to find their way back to a lead. They pulled it back within a six point game with 3:46 in the half but ultimately were down 38-26 at the halftime break. Emily Isaacson led the team in the first half with 13 points and three rebounds as she shot 100% from the field in the first half.
Quarter three was more of the same for the Trailblazers. Despite the best efforts of Breaunna Gillen, who registered 14 points, and Emily Isaacson, who earned an additional six that quarter for 19, it wasn't enough to bring the score closer. The Roos outscored the Trailblazers 18-26 and the third quarter ended 44-64 for the Roos.
The fourth quarter the Trailblazers were able to hold the Roos to just 12 points. They also had their best offensive quarter scoring 18 points but the Roos still took the 76-62 win.
Leaders: Dixie State was led by
Emily Isaacson who had a career-high 22 points. She went 8-12 from the field and 5-9 from beyond the arc. She was the only Trailblazer to play all 40 minutes and had seven rebounds on top of her team-leading scoring. Isaacson shot 67% from the field.
Breaunna Gillen led the team in assists with six and was second to Isaacson in rebounds with six as well.
Comparison: Dixie State ended the night shooting 36 percent from the field, 27 percent from beyond the arc and 82 percent from the free throw line. DSU ended with 36 rebounds, nine assists, and ten turnovers. Dixie had 26 points in the paint and 13 points off the bench.
Kansas City ended the night shooting 42 percent from the field, 32 percent from the three and 70 percent from the free throw line. The Roos recorded 46 boards, 12 assists and 19 turnovers. KC had 38 points in the paint and 15 points off the bench.
Notes to Know: DSU is now 2-3 overall on the season.
