Box Score Trailblazers women soccer finished out the 2021 season Saturday evening and fell 2-1 to New Mexico State.
HOW IT HAPPENED: New Mexico State got on the board first with a goal in the 14th minute.
In the 39th minute, the Aggies drew a corner kick and were able to fire off a shot that was beautifully saved by DSU keeper, Adelle Brown. Brown ended the first half with three saves.
The first half ended with a 1-0 score in favor of the Aggies. Dixie State had just two shots with one on frame in the first half. NMSU ended the half with four shots, three on goal, one goal and one assist.
The second half was a battle between the two teams however the Aggies were on a constant attack. In the 73rd minute NM State was able to get a second goal to take a 2-0 lead.
Dixie State was able to answer in the 75th minute. The Blazers won the second ball off an Aggies free kick. Shaylynn Uyeshiro dished it up to Kalea Woodyatt who carried it upfield. Woodyatt took a shot just outside of the 18 yard box with her left foot that soared into the left side upper 90 to take the score to 2-1.
STAT BREAKDOWN: Dixie State was led by
Jill Bennett who had three shots with one on frame. Woodyatt was the lone scorer for DSU.
DSU ended the game with six shots and three on frame with one goal and one assist.
Brown started in the net for Dixie and played the full 90 minutes. She recorded four saves.
New Mexico State ended the game with 10 shots, six on frame, two goals and one assist. The Aggies ended the game with just two saves.
NOTES TO KNOW: Woodyatt leads the Trailblazers in goals scored with six on the season.
Brown now has 112 saves in her career which puts her at No. 4 in the school record books.
Dixie State ends the season with a 7-13-1 overall on the season and 2-7-1 in WAC action.
