After opening the 2019 season at home, Dixie State football opens its road slate on Saturday with a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tilt against Fort Lewis at Rex Dennison Memorial Field in Durango, Colorado.

Kickoff is set for Noon Mountain Time, with live audio coverage scheduled on radio (Radio Dixie 91.3 FM) and internet (RadioDixie913.com), with Keric Seegmiller providing play-by-play and Drayson Ball adding analysis. Fans can also watch the game online at the Fort Lewis Stretch Internet Portal (portal.stretchinternet.com/fortlewis).

ALL-TIME IN ROAD SCHEDULE-OPENERS: Saturday's game marks the first road game of the 2019 season for Dixie State. The Trailblazers are 0-13 all-time (NCAA Division II era) in road schedule-opening games, dating back to the 2006 season. DSU came closest to opening its road schedule with a win on Aug. 31, 2017, in a 23-22 heartbreaking loss at New Mexico Highlands.

ALL-TIME VS. FORT LEWIS: Saturday's game marks the fifth meeting between Fort Lewis and Dixie State on the gridiron. The teams first met in the Dixie Rotary Bowl in St. George on Dec. 2, 2006. Fort Lewis rallied for a 24-14 victory, after trailing 14-3 at halftime, to claim the victory. The Trailblazers earned their first win in the series in 2016 in a 16-14 thriller in St. George, sparking a three-game win streak in the series for DSU, including a 31-3 triumph inside Trailblazer Stadium last season. Dixie State holds a 3-1 lead in the overall series, and a 1-0 mark in games played at Ray Dennison Memorial Field.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Fort Lewis enters Saturday's contest looking to complete its first game of the year after its season-opener at New Mexico Highlands was cancelled on Saturday during the second quarter due to persistent lightning in the Las Vegas, New Mexico, area.

The Skyhawks held a 7-0 lead when the game was officially cancelled at the 6:19 mark of the second quarter. FLC senior linebacker Darrian Stickney set up the FLC touchdown with an interception, followed by a 4-yard touchdown run by redshirt sophomore running back Jeff Hansen.

LAST TIME OUT: A Trailblazer Stadium record 6,512 fans packed the stadium to see the Dixie State football team take on No. 9 CSU-Pueblo on Saturday, but the festivities were spoiled as the Thunderwolves claimed a 36-7 victory in the 2019 season opener.
Dixie State finished the game with 210 yards (151 pass, 59 rush) of total offense.

DAZZLING DEBUT: Jalen Powell made the most of his first game in a Trailblazer uniform, catching eight passes for 65 yards and the lone DSU touchdown of the game.

CAREER NIGHT: Alex Lilliard led the Dixie State defense with a career-high 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

DSU'S SWISS ARMY KNIFE: Keaton Mott did a little bit of everything on Saturday in his first game for the Trailblazers. Mott completed 10-of-21 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown at quarterback, but also stepped in as the DSU punter. Mott blasted nine punts for a total of 384 yards, an average of 42.7 yards per kick. The redshirt junior currently leads the RMAC and ranks 19th nationally after his DSU punting debut. Mott also tacked on a touchdown-saving tackle on a CSU-Pueblo punt return in the fourth quarter to complete his jack-of-all-trades performance.

UP NEXT: Dixie State continues its three-game road swing next Saturday with an afternoon matchup at New Mexico Highlands.
