Women’s Tennis falls to Cal State LA in season finale

Trailblazers finish the season with a 9-10 record

Dixie State women's tennis fell to Cal State LA in a consolation match at the Pacific West Conference Championships on Thursday, dropping a 5-1 decision in the 2017-18 season finale.

The Trailblazers (9-10) picked up an important point in doubles play, as Frances Hina Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) and Maria Kana Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) earned an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles to cut the CSULA lead to 2-1.

The Eagles seized control of the match during singles play, earning victories at the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 spots to clinch the 5-1 victory. Kana Goldsmith came closest to a point in singles play and held a 6-3, 1-0 lead at No. 6 singles when the match was halted.

Dixie State concludes its final season as a  member of the PacWest Conference with a 9-10 overall record. The Trailblazers will move to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the 2018-19 season.
