Women’s Tennis falls at Weber State Sunday, 6-1

The Dixie State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Weber State on Sunday in Ogden, Utah.

The Trailblazers (4-6) earned their lone point of the match during doubles play, as Frances Hina Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) and her sister Maria Kana Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Kyra Harames (Spokane, Wash./Central Valley) and Sabrina Longson (Salt Lake City, Utah/Olympus) held on for a 7-6 win at No 3. doubles.

The Wildcats responded during singles play, taking all six singles matches to clinch win. Hina Goldsmith came closest to a point during singles play, and eventually fell 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Harames also played to a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 loss at No. 3 singles. McKelle Burnett (Centerville, Utah/Viewmont) looked to get a win at No. 6 singles, but fell 6-0, 2-6, 6-4.

Dixie State heads to northern California for a four-match trip, beginning on March 24 at Holy Names.
