Dixie State pushed its winning streak to a season-high five games, thanks in part to hot shooting and a big second-half run, as the Trailblazers handled Holy Names, 75-57, Monday afternoon at Tobin Gymnasium.

DSU (11-6/8-2 PacWest) trailed just twice in the first half (1:56 total game time) and held 31-28 lead at the halftime break. The Trailblazers would take control of the game in the second half with a decisive 22-5 run over an eight-plus minute span, which turned a slim 38-37 lead into a 60-42 advantage with 7:54 remaining.

Holy Names (7-12/3-6 PacWest) would trim deficit down to 66-55 with 2:50 to go, but Dixie State outscored the Hawks by a 9-2 count the rest of the way to cruise to the victory.

"We talked about the fundamentals at halftime, do the things that you can do and be fundamentally strong," DSU Head Coach Jon Judkins said. "That means play good defense, that means block off and that means make good, crisp passes.

"Our defense was good in the second half, we hurt [HNU] with the zone, and we changed [the zone looks] to keep them off-balance, which I thought was key as well," Judkins added. "We defended good, we were able to get good shots and we were sharing the ball. It was a good win for us."

Dixie State enjoyed a balanced night on the offensive end as four Trailblazers scored in double figures, led by Trevor Hill (Sandy, Utah/Alta HS) with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Hill also posted team highs with seven rebounds and five assists.

Fellow starters Kyler Nielson (Cedar City, Utah/Cedar HS) and Zac Hunter (American Fork, Utah/American Fork HS) each tallied 10 points on a combined 8-of-13 from the floor, and Julien Ducree (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga HS) finished with a career-high 10 points off the bench, all of which came in the second half. In all, 10 of the 12 Trailblazers who saw time found their way into the scoring column.

DSU shot 56.6 percent (30-of-53) from the floor, its second-best shooting night of the season, which included a 65.3 percent (17-of-26) clip in the second half. The Trailblazers' hot shooting help offset a 12-of-21 (.571) at the foul line, though DSU outrebounded the Hawks, 37-32.

Dixie State limited Holy Names to 34.4 percent shooting (21-of-61) for the game, including 32.2 percent (10-of-31) in the second half. Jewels Sanders led all scorers with 15 points off the bench.

Dixie State continues its four-game Bay Area road swing at Dominican University this Thursday night in San Rafael beginning at 7:30 p.m. (PT).
