BASE - File Drafted by Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday

The junior righthander was selected in the 21st Round (No. 624 overall)

Dixie State junior righthander Dylan File was selected in the 21st round (No. 624 overall) of the 2017 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft on Wednesday by the Milwaukee Brewers. File is the fifth DSU baseball player to be drafted in the program's 11-year NCAA era and is the 44th Dixie State player overall to be selected in the MLB draft since 1976.

File (6-1; St. George, Utah/Desert Hills HS), who was voted preseason 2017 Pacific West Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year, was a second team all-PacWest pick this past season after finishing the year ranked in the conference's top-five in wins (8-2), complete games (4), shutouts (2) and strikeouts (75 in 93.0 IP). File went 6-1 against PacWest opponents with a 2.97 ERA and recorded 45 of his 75 strikeouts in league play, while he posted a 3.58 ERA overall and held opposing hitters to a .221 average.

Two of File's four complete games came in PacWest play, including a four-hit shutout win over Point Loma (3/24). He also struck out a career-high 11 in a three-hit complete-game shutout of Montana State Billings (2/24), and fanned eight in 6.2 innings of work in a win at California Baptist (3/16). File, who became DSU's career leader in wins (20-4) and strikeouts (193) in a victory at Hawai'i Hilo (4/26), also earned third team all-PacWest honors in 2016 and was voted PacWest Freshman of the Year in 2015.

In addition, File is DSU's career leader in innings pitched (245.0) and shutouts (3), second in starts (38) and strikeouts/9 innings (7.20), third in ERA (3.71) and complete games (6), and fourth in total appearances (42).

File is the second-highest DSU player selected in the MLB draft in the program's four-year era. Former DSU lefthander Porter Clayton was drafted in the 19th round (No. 568 overall) by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2015 June Amateur Draft.
