After playing four of its last five games at home, the Dixie State football team heads back on the road this week with its first trip to Golden, Colorado, for a Saturday afternoon clash with Colorado Mines at Marv Kay Stadium.

Kickoff is set for Noon as the Trailblazers (3-4, 3-3 RMAC) look for their second road win of the season. Live audio coverage is scheduled on radio (ESPN 97.7) and internet (SportsRadio977.com), with Keric Seegmiller providing play-by-play.

ALL-TIME VS. COLORADO MINES: Saturday's game marks the second matchup between Dixie State and Colorado Mines, and the first matchup between the teams in Golden, Colorado. The Orediggers used 34 second-half points to spoil DSU's homecoming festivities with a 62-27 triumph in last season's inaugural matchup. Dixie State finished with 213 yards rushing, but was outgained 582-320 in total offense.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Colorado Mines enters the game with the same record as Dixie State, 3-4 overall with a 3-3 mark in RMAC play. The Orediggers have recorded wins over New Mexico Highlands (70-0), Western State (45-7), and Fort Lewis (41-7), with each of its three wins coming in the confines of Marv Kay Stadium.

The Orediggers use a balanced attack of pass and run to average 465.4 yards (236.0 rush/229.4 pass) of total offense per game. Quarterback Ben Bottlinger (116-202-6, 1,578 yards, 11 TD) ranks fourth in the RMAC with 225.4 passing yards per game. Running back Cameron Mayberry (128 carries, 774 yards, 11 TD) ranks third in the RMAC with 110.5 yards rushing per game. Preseason All-American and All-Conference receiver Brody Oliver (42 receptions, 638 yards, 6 TD) is Bottlinger's favorite target, while Riley Hoff (39 receptions, 523 yards, 4 TD) is not far behind.

Defensively, Colorado Mines allows 386.3 yard of total offense per game. Linebackers Averie Mansfield (46 tackles, 3.0 TFL) and Dean Wenger (46 tackles, 6.0 TFL, 2.5 sacks, INT) lead the defensive charge, while defensive back Logan Braden (40 tackles, 3.0 TFL) is second in the RMAC with three interceptions.

The Orediggers also boast solid special teams units, as kicker Grayson Harris has converted 4-of-5 field goals (season-long 52 yards) and is 30-of-31 on point-after attempts. Punter Austin Toussaint averages 36.9 yards per punt, totaling 1,108 yards of total punting on 30 attempts.

MAKING HISTORY: Senior linebacker Noe Perez (Santa Ana, Calif./Los Amigo HS) tied the DSU single-game record with three sacks at Western State on September 30. Perez matched the effort first recorded by Nick Rocco at Central Washington in 2010.

LEADING THE LEAGUE: Through seven games Dixie State leads the RMAC in pass defense (141.7 yards per game), pass defense efficiency (98-202-8, 48.5 completion percentage, 90.0 efficiency rating), and offensive pass efficiency (126-209-7, 14 TD, 139.4 efficiency rating).  The Trailblazers rank second in total defense (369.0 yards per game), and opponent third down conversion (32-102, 31.4 %).

LAST TIME OUT: Dixie State dropped a 35-22 decision to No. 20 Colorado Mesa on Saturday. The Trailblazers led 15-14 at halftime, and later cut a second-half CMU lead to 28-22 with opportunities to retake the lead, but couldn't move the ball past midfield. The Mavericks outgained the Trailblazers 542-326.

NEXT UP: The Trailblazers return to Legend Solar Stadium for their final two-game homestand of the season, beginning with a Homecoming matchup vs. Adams State next Saturday at 1 p.m.
