Volleyball Downed by Hawai'i Pacific Saturday

Trailblazers see their 10-game winning streak snapped in a four-set loss to the Sharks

Dixie State saw its season-long 10-match winning streak halted in a four-set loss at Hawai'i Pacific Saturday night in Honolulu. DSU (12-5/8-1 PacWest) breezed through the first set by a 25-14 count, but the Sharks (11-7/7-2 PacWest) won the next three (25-20, 25-22, 25-19) en route to the match victory.

Senior outside hitter Delayne Daniel (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleaseant Grove HS) recorded her team-high ninth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 12 digs, while sophomore OH Taylor Duryea (Logan, Utah/Sky View HS) collected nine kills with five digs and three block assists, and senior middle blocker Lindsay Garrett (St. George, Utah/Desert Hills HS) finished with seven kills and two block assists. Dixie State posted a .435 hitting percentage in the opening set, but was held below .200 in each of the following three sets to finish with a .206 percentage.

HPU's Perla Escobar connected for a match-high 16 kills, while Pomai Recca finished with 14 kills and 14 digs.

Dixie State will look to rebound this Monday night as the Trailblazers conclude their three-match Hawaiian road trip with a match at Hawai'i Hilo.
