No. 4 Dixie State returns home to face Notre Dame de Namur

ST. GEORGE, Utah - After taking taking three of four from Cal Baptist, the No. 4 Dixie State softball team is in the driver's seat of the Pacific West Conference race and faces Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday for a doubleheader.

The Red Storm (36-7, 23-1) will host Notre Dame de Namur (18-23, 12-8) at 11 a.m. Saturday at Karl Brooks Field for two games. Dixie State is returning from a six-game road trip. The team won five of six, taking three of four from the Lancers and sweeping Cal State San Bernardino. 

Mallory Paulson (Fruita, CO/Fruita Monument) got hot on the road, hitting .357 with two homers and seven RBI. She is tied for second on the team this year in home runs with six total, along with Brooklyn Beardshear (Tucson, AZ/Sahuaro). Marla Reiter (Rolinda, CA/Central High School) leads the team in jacks with eight. Reiter is hitting .366 on the year with 28 RBI.

Freshman Janessa Bassett (Stansbury Park, UT/Tooele) is hitting a team-best .444 with 59 hits. She has six triples and has stolen 34 bases. Courtney Hine (San Dimas, CA/San Dimas High School) is right with her, hitting .440 with 51 hits on the year and 35 RBI. Nicole Chavez (Chino Hills, CA/Ayala High School) leads the team in RBI with 41 and has a league-best 19 doubles while hitting .370 this season.

Recently named a finalist for the inaugural Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II Player of the Year award, Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) continues to pitch masterfully with a 20-0 record, her second consecutive 20-win season. She boasts an ERA of 1.16 with 17 complete games and six shutouts. She has allowed just 23 earned runs all season.

Completing the one-two punch, Aryn Feickert (Lancaster, CA/Highland ) is 15-5 and has struck out a PacWest best 118 batters in 107.1 innings pitched. 

Dixie State hosts the Argonauts and then will be off until April 24.
