ST. GEORGE, Utah - A week off and the Red Storm softball team should be ready to go against Azusa Pacific in a four game series this weekend.

No. 4 Dixie State hosts the Cougars (27-22, 12-13) on Friday at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader and again Saturday with another twinbill beginning at 12 p.m. at Karl Brooks Field. DSU split the series with Azusa Pacific last year.

This year, the Red Storm boasts a record of 38-7, including a Pacific West Conference mark of 25-1. With one win in the series, Dixie State will clinch a share of the PacWest title for the second-consecutive year.

The team leads the league in batting average (.347), runs scored (330), home runs (40), RBI (290), slugging percentage (.525), on-base percentage (.419), and stolen bases (86).

Dixie State isn't just a team with a lot of offense, the pitching and defense has beend dominant as well. The Red Storm are tops in the PacWest in earned run average (1.77), shutouts (13), hits allowed (218), runs allowed (93), earned runs allowed (72), strikeouts (228) and opponent batting average (.212). 

In the field, the Red Storm have committed the fewest errors of any team in the conference (32) and have the best fielding percentage (.973).

DSU begins its home stretch of the regular season with Azusa this Friday, with the regular season finale the following week against Holy Names.
