Autumn Woodfall (Kaysville, UT/Davis High School) to tie it up at 2-2 at the end of one.
It was all Dixie State from there after a two-run bomb by Reiter in the third and another two-run shot by Chavez in the fourth for a 6-2 lead.
Beardshear singled in
Kristie Johnson (Temecula, CA/Chaparral High School) and Woodfall doubled to bring Beardshear around later in the fourth. DSU added three more on base hits by
Courtney Sherwin (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School) and Bassett to make it 11-2 heading into the top of the fifth.
Duncan struckout the last batter after giving up just two hits after the first inning to win her 17th game of the season. She went five innings, gave up two earned runs, walked two and struckout two.
Game 2 RecapA bases loaded walk to Bassett in the second started the scoring for the Red Storm. The next batter, Chavez singled to left and scored Hartman and
Mallory Paulson (Fruita, CO/Fruita Monument). Beardshear picked up another RBI with a single through the left side. DSU hung a four-spot in the second to lead it 4-0.
Reiter clubbed another homer in the third, her team-leading seventh of the year, for a 5-0 advantage.
The bombs kept coming for Dixie State as Hartman crushed a no-doubter to left with Paulson on board later in the third. Beardshear added her sixth of the season with Johnson on base to make it 9-0 after four innings.
Feickert ran into a jam in the top half of the fifth with the bases loaded after an infield single. She struck out CMU's last chance at a rally to end it and complete the sweep of the Mavericks. Feickert scattered four hits and walked four with four strikeouts.
