Dixie State sweeps HPU to finish Hawaii trip a perfect 12-0

KANEOHE, Hawaii - A complete sweep of the Islands, No. 7 Dixie State finished it off with two victories over Hawaii Pacific on Saturday.

Dixie State (25-5, 16-0) beat the Sharks (10-8, 3-7) 4-1 and 8-2 to go a perfect 12-0 over its 10-day trip in the middle of the Pacific. The Red Storm took four from BYU-Hawaii, a pair from both Hawaii Hilo and Chaminade and four more from Hawaii Pacific. Dixie State trailed in just two innings the entire trip.

"12-0 on the Islands is an incredible feat," head coach Randy Simkins said. "It's two games longer than we've ever been over here and to do the trip without dropping a game is credit to these girls."

DSU has now won 19 games in a row and outscored opponents 202-54 this year.

Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) pitched game one and allowed just the one run over her 13th complete game to pick up her 14th win of the year. Aryn Feickert (Lancaster, CA/Highland ) got the win in game two to get to double-digit victories on the season with her 10th.

Brooklyn Beardshear (Tucson, AZ/Sahuaro) hit a three-run homer in game two to put the game out of reach. Beardshear hit four homers on the trip, including two grand slams against BYU-Hawaii and Chaminade. Marla Reiter (Rolinda, CA/Central High School) also blasted three homers in Hawaii to help the cause.

Dixie State returns home to take on Academy of Art in a weekend four-game series at Karl Brooks Field starting on Friday with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. MT.
