UPDATE: Softball scheduled for Friday/Saturday

ST. GEORGE, Utah - After a quick snow storm earlier in the week  and possible rain on the way, Dixie State softball games vs. Dominican have been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 28 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Friday's games were previously scheduled for Saturday, but due to the concerning weather have been moved to Friday's new time.

The Red Storm (9-5) swept the series against Montana State-Billings in the home opener. DSU held Billings scoreless in two out of three contests and rallied from behind in extra innings to win another.

Freshman Janessa Bassett (Stansbury Park, UT/Tooele) was named the PacWest Newcomer of the Week for her performance against the Yellowjackets. Bassett was 4 forv 9 with three RBI and two runs scored in the series sweep of Montana State-Billings. She was also 4 for 4 in stolen bases. She went 2 for 3 with a two-run single in the series opener. She leads the PacWest in stolen bases (12) and is second in hits (19) and runs scored (13).

Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) improved to 6-0 with two more wins. She pitched 15.0 innings en route to two complete-game victories. She allowed just one earned run over both outings. Brooklyn Beardshear (Tucson, AZ/Sahuaro) picked up the other win during the series in a 9-0 victory for the Red Storm. She also went 3 for 5 at the plate with three RBI, two runs scored and walked three times. 

Autumn Woodfall (Kaysville, UT/Davis High School) has been providing power at the plate after launching her third homer of the year. She leads the team with 13 RBI and has a .575 slugging percentage. Bassett leads the team with a .388 batting average and Mallory Paulson (Fruita, CO/Fruita Monument) is tied for the team lead with Woodfall with three home runs.
