ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Dixie State softball team will play its home opener on Tuesday afternoon, followed by a doubleheader on Wednesday against Montana State University Billings.

Tuesday's opener is set for 3 p.m. MT with Wednesday's doubleheader scheduled to begin at the same time.

The Red Storm (6-5) opened the season the past two weekends in two tournaments on the road. DSU went 4-2 at the Leadoff Classic in Tucson and then 2-3 at the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas.
The five losses have come by a combined six runs.

Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) is leading the pitching staff with a 4-0 record, 33.1 innings pitched and 27 strikeouts. She is allowing an opponents batting average of .197 to go with her ERA of 1.26. Duncan was named to the All-Tournament team at the Desert Stinger after two complete games and a 0.52 ERA for the weekend.

Dixie State's bats continue to hit well, recording a team batting average of .318 to date, outscoring opponents 62-38. Leadoff hitter Janessa Bassett (Stansbury Park, UT/Tooele) leads the Red Storm in hits (15), runs scored (11) and stolen bases (8). She is hitting .375 through 11 games. Mallory Johnson leads the team in home runs with three already and Autumn Woodfall (Kaysville, UT/Davis High School) has two homers and a team-leading 10 RBI.
