ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Dixie State women's basketball team fell behind late in the first half and lost to Hawaii Pacific 96-65 on Monday night.
Despite the loss, Dixie State's (8-16, 7-11)
Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) hit a career milestone, joining the 1,000 career points club with 10 points in the game. She is just the second member, with Johnna Brown being the other with 1,212 career points as DSU's leading scorer.

The Pacific West Conference leading Sharks (21-4, 16-2) outscored DSU in the paint 50-16 and scored 40 points off of 25 Dixie State turnovers.Chermayne Moore (Pinole, CA/Hercules) led the Red Storm in scoring with 16 points including four 3-pointers. Miller also picked up four assists and two steals to go along with her 10 points.Â
Dixie State kept pace with the Sharks in the opening minutes after Moore tied it up with a triple to make it 12-12.
HPU started to force turnovers and get out and run, taking a 22-14 lead at the nine minute mark.
Moore's hot shooting kept the Red Storm in striking distance after her third trey of the half made it 28-23 with 3:46 until the break but the Sharks went on a run and took a 44-27 lead into the break.
With 4:49 remaining, a technical foul on HPU sent Miller to the line for two. She made both to put her at the 1,000 point mark for her career.
The Red Storm couldn't get out of the hole and make a comeback, falling to HPU 96-65 in the end.
Dixie State will play on the road at Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 3:30 p.m MT.
