Box Score 2 SEATTLE - The Dixie State women's volleyball team regrouped and quickly got back to its winning ways with a 3-0 sweep of Chico State after a loss earlier in the day at the Seattle Pacific Volleyball Tournament.

The Red Storm (1-1,0-0) hit at a solid .362 percent in the second match, a big improvement over the day's earlier match when DSU came up on the wrong end of a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Cal State LA.

"The second match was a great rebound for us," head coach
Robyn Felder said. "We had a difficult time in the first match passing and our offense doesn't work will without it. This is a great opportunity for us to see where we are weak and where we need to improve. The competition will be great for us."

Dixie State dominated the first set over Chico State, winning 25-11. The real highlight of the match was coming back from down 20-13 in the second set. The Red Storm came back to tie the match at 22-22 behind strong play at the net and a 9-2 run.

With a few extra points required, the Red Storm finished the comeback on
Alex Anderson (Prescott, AZ/Prescott)'s ace to win it 26-24 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Red Storm took control in the third set, getting out to an 11-7 lead. DSU was able to stay out front the entire set and roll to a 25-20 victory.

Nicole Koehler (Sandy, UT/Alta) led the match with 12 kills, hitting at a .800 clip to dominate the second match.
Kendahl Weiland (Albany, OR/West Albany) logged nine kills and newcomer
Edithza Urias (Bakersfield, CA/Golden Valley) posted eight of her own.

A big run by Cal State LA in the first set put them off and running in the first match against Dixie State. The Golden Eagles took the first two sets, 25-15, 25-11.

DSU hung around in the third set, mounting a rally late but still was too far behind early to come back. The Red Storm dropped set No. 3 25-17, and the first match of the day 3-0.

Dixie State will play two more matches Saturday at the Seattle Pacific Volleyball Tournament. The Red Storm will take on Cal Poly Pomona at 12 p.m. MT and then face the home team of Seattle Pacific at 8 p.m. MT in the nightcap.Â
