#DixieWSOC Week 1 Game Notes

DIXIE STATE STORYLINES

Opening day: Dixie State opens the 2014 campaign with its first ever meeting with Chico State. The Storm went 7-7-2 last year, finishing in a tie for fourth place in the Pacific West Conference while the Wildcats are coming off a seventh place year in the CCAA with a 8-8-2 overall record.

Saturday night with the Broncos: The opening weekend of games will see the first meeting of the year between Dixie State and Cal Poly Pomona. DSU will visit Pomona on Sept. 20 for another non-conference match. CPP was tabbed 7th in the CCAA Preseason Coaches Poll.

Storming the PacWest: Dixie State tallied 114 votes in the PacWest preseason poll to sit in the fifth spot. Senior Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) earned a spot on the All-PacWest Preseason Team for the third consecutive year.

Returning for action: Seven players return from the 2013 starting lineup, including Mason and goalkeeper Stacie Gubler (Las Vegas, NV/Palo Verde). Overall, the squad has 10 returning letterwinners.

New to the family: Seventeen new players highlight the DSU roster this year - including a nice mix of transfers and talented freshmen. Junior Jasmine Arollo (Glendale, AZ/Apollo) and a pair of freshmen - Montana Tanner (Centerville, UT/Viewmont) and Darian McCloy (Herriman, UT/Herriman) - started in DSU's exhibition against Southern Utah.

Year two: Kacey Bingham begins her second season as head coach. Prior to DSU, she led Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Community College to the NJCAA National Championship in 2012.
