GNAC preseason favorites visit STG: Dixie State (0-3) will square off against Azusa Pacific (2-1, RV in the AFCA national poll) in the final non-league matchup before Great Northwest Athletic Conference action begins next week. The Storm and Cougars will kickoff at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 from Hansen Stadium. The game will broadcast on CEC-TV, SouthernUtahLive.com and ESPN SportsRadio 106.1 FM with John Potter, Devin Dixon and Patrick Amico calling the simulcasted feed.

GNAC review: Arguably, the GNAC's most intriguing game in Week Two was played in Monmouth. Western Oregon held off Central Washington, 36-34, despite the Wildcats posting 20 points in the 4th quarter to take a late lead. Elsewhere, Azusa Pacific held off Simon Fraser, 32-24 and South Dakota Mines fell at home to Wisconsin-River Falls, 43-28.

Third-Down flop: DSU ranked 46th in the nation on third down conversions after two weeks of play. That ranking took a dramatic slide as the Storm only converted on one of 15 opportunities on third down last week against Humboldt State. The 6.6% rate is the lowest posted by a Dixie State football team in any game since becoming an NCAA Division II school in 2006.

Cougar clashes through the years: Dixie State is 3-6 all-time against Azusa Pacific. APU has taken the last three meetings in the series, including a sweep of the two 2013 games (36-20 in St. George, 23-20 in Glendora). The Storm's last win in the series came in Sept. 2012, when a late fumble return for a TD from Ray Chapman sealed a 24-22 win for DSU. Only one of Dixie State's three win over APU has come at home; a 33-23 triumph on Oct. 17, 2009, behind 344 passing yards from starting quarterback Judd Thompson.

Injuries piling up: Senior linebacker Daniel Moffett (Kaysville, UT/Davis) missed the Humboldt game and his status for Saturday's game against Azusa is questionable. E.J. Maylock (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy) looks to get his second start at LB in place of Moffett. Sophomore Colton Peterson (Logan, UT/Skyview) left the HSU game late in the first half after being tackled high on the body during a kickoff return. Peterson is out for Saturday's game resulting in Myles Burton (Berkeley, CA/Rodriguez) getting the start at running back. Justin Ence (St. George, UT/Pine View) was also hurt against Humboldt State and is not expected play. Kendall Prescott (South Summit, UT/South Summit) is the expected starter at free safety.

Brum's coaching ledger: Scott Brumfield is in his fifth year as head coach of the Storm. Brumfield has a 10-36 collegiate coaching record. He is 1-4 against Azusa Pacific. Prior to being Dixie State's head coach, Brumfield was offensive coordinator at DSU. He was the head coach at his alma mater, Spanish Fork High School before moving to DSU.
