Dixie State picks up another conference win

Red Storm beat Dominican 3-0 to move to 2-0 in PacWest Play

Box Score ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Dixie State women's volleyball team took control early and often to beat Dominican 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon.

Edithza Urias (Bakersfield, CA/Golden Valley) led the way with 13 kills while Maddie Rex (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) also reached double digits with 10 of her own. Nicole Koehler (Sandy, UT/Alta) and Kendahl Weiland (Albany, OR/West Albany) logged nine apiece en route to the straight-set victory.

Ahead 16-14 in the first set, the Red Storm got hot down the stretch to win the first set 25-15.

In set two, DSU was dominant, riding the strong finish from the first set into the second with a 14-1 lead before Dominican had an answer. Both teams traded points the rest of the way but the Red Storm were well in control, cruising to a 25-11 win to go up 2-0.

Set three was much closer however, as Dominican wouldn't go away without a fight. The match was within two points until Dixie State took a 20-19 lead and turned on the gas to score the next four straight for a 25-19 win and straight-set victory.

Dixie State will head back on the road for contests against Holy Names, Academy of Art and Notre Dame de Namur next week.
