ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Dixie State softball welcomes the Silverswords of Chaminade University to Karl Brooks Field for a four-game series. The pair of doubleheaders will begin at 3 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Live stats of each game will be available via DixieAtheltics.com.
 
NFCA Rankings
For the second time this season the Red Storm fell from the NFCA's top 25 rankings. This time they are just outside at No. 26, despite sweeping Hawaii Hilo in four games last week. California Baptist continues to dominate their opponents and moved up to No. 2 in the weekly rankings.
 
PacWest Breakdown
CBU leads the Pacific West standings, having rattled off 12 straight victories to improve to 19-5 in league play. The Red Storm sit exactly four games behind in the win column at 15-5 and will need to win all four games this week against the Silverswords to maintain pace.
 
Feickert was named for the second time this season the PWC Pitcher of the Week.  She had another dominating week in the circle. In 25.1 innings pitched, she recorded a 1.07 ERA and 22 strikeouts, posting a 3-1 record. She picked up three wins against Hawai'i Hilo, allowing just two earned runs to the second-best hitting team in the PacWest. She threw complete game shutouts in the two games she started, striking out a career-high 12 in one outing. Just last week she was named the PacWest Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Dixie State (27-8, 15-5 PWC)
With a four-game sweep of the Vulcans last week, the Red Storm maintained pace with first place California Baptist in the PWC standings. They will need to continue to win games, especially at home to make its presence known in the West Region rankings.
 
The Red Storm offense remains as powerful as ever as they lead the conference in doubles per game (2.06) and batting average (.359). They are also number two in scoring (6.69) and slugging percentage (.505). Those numbers also rank the DSU offense at No. 6 in the NCAA in average,  No. 8 in doubles, and No. 22 in scoring.
 
Bailee Freeland (Ogden, UT/Bonneville High School) leads the Storm in hitting at .446, followed by Nicole Chavez (Chino Hills, CA/Ayala High School) at .406 and Courtney Hine (San Dimas, CA/San Dimas High School) at .400. DSU has only one starter that is currently hitting under .300.
 
DSU has outscored its opponents 234-119, and has 19 home runs to 12. Marla Reiter (Rolinda, CA/Central High School) leads the team in RBI with 31, followed by Hine with 25 and Brooke Budge (Springville, UT/Springville High School) with 22. Chavez leads the home run race with five and Hine has four.
 
Veteran Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) made her first appearance since Feb. 25, picked up a win in relief to improve to 6-1, but her 1.53 ERA ballooned to a sultry 2.03. Aryn Feickert (Lancaster, CA/Highland ) is 13th in the NCAA in wins at 13-6, and has a 2.05 ERA. The Red Storm ERA is 2.62.

Simkins Era and Karl Brooks Field
The Storm are 128-41 (.757) in the D2 era at Karl Brooks Field, with their best season coming in 2011 when they finished 19-1. Coach Randy Simkins current record in six seasons is 226-69 (.766).

Chaminade (7-19, 6-16 PWC)
The Silverswords have dropped 11 straight games, including the last two at CBU on Saturday.
 
CUH has three players hitting above .300, leading the way is junior outfielder Samantha Ford who is hitting .395. Leading RBI and home hitter is Aja Ford who is has three home runs and 15 RBI. She is also hitting .341. The Silverswords have a .268 team batting average.
 
Kaitlyn Watanabe (3-5, 5.04 ERA) and Bret Aspel (3-11, 4.28 ERA) have pitched the lion's share of the innings for the Silverswords. Their team ERA is 4.53 and opponents hit .336 against them.

CUH is lead by head coach Kent Yamaguchi who is in his 9th year as a head coach. His career record is 118-293, all of them as a Silversword.
