The Red Storm (3-2) opened the day with a 7-5 victory over University of Colorado – Colorado Springs (1-2) and dropped the nightcap to CSU Dominguez Hills (5-4) in the nightcap.

Dixie State jumped on the UCCS in the bottom of the first inning by scoring three runs on an RBI single from Marla Reiter (Rolinda, CA/Central High School) and a 2-RBI single from Sheila Gelter (St. George, UT/Dixie High School).

But the high-powered DSU offense responded with a pair of home runs from the veterans on the team.  Reiter added her second RBI with a solo shot to center field and Courtney Sherwin (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School) picked up her first of the year, a 2-RBI shot to left center field.

Sherwin helped add an insurance run with an RBI double in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

Reiter, Sherwin, Gelter, and Budge each had two hits for DSU.

Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) picked up the victory in relief to improve to 2-1 on the year.

In the nightcap, CSU Dominguez Hills capitalized on five Red Storm errors to prevail 8-1. It was the first meeting between the teams since the NCAA West Regional in St. George last May.

Aryn Feickert (Lancaster, CA/Highland ) lost for the first time as a member of the Red Storm. The Toros Stephanie Hua belted a three run home run to lead them to victory.
