RECORDS GALORE: On Thursday night against Hawaii Hilo, DSU set several game records, the first being 26 rebounds from Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, UT/Emery). She shattered the old mark held by Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) with 20. The second record was Haley Holmstead (American Fork, UT/American Fork) who scored 39 points was 16-28 from the field and her 16 field goals also set a game record for the Storm. The old record was held by another former SLCC shooting star Sheila Adams.

ALL-TIME vs. CUH: DSU leads the all-time series 14-0, including last meeting on Jan. 5, 2014 in Honolulu in which DSU won 93-69. The last victory for DSU in the Burns Arena was an 86-56 victory on Dec. 3, 2012.

LAST TIME AGAINST the SILVERSWORDS: The Dixie State University women's basketball team won its third consecutive game on Saturday night as they cruised to a 93-69 Pacific West Conference win over Chaminade University in Honolulu, HI. Four Red Storm (5-6, 3-2 PWC) players finished in double figures, with junior guard Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) leading the way with 15 points. Sophomore center Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, UT/Emery) finished with her second double double in as many games with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The very balanced Dixie State attack saw all twelve players who saw action register pointers.  The Red Strom shot 30-78 from the field for 38.5 percent from the field. After trailing 2-0, the Red Storm never trailed again and built a lead as many as 30 points with 5:25 remaining in the contest. DSU outrebounded the Silverswords (1-8, 1-2 PWC) 61-38 and converted the 24 CUH turnovers into 15 points. The Storm also added 40 points in the paint and connected on 29-39 from the free throw line.

SCOUTING CHAMINADE: Chaminade enters the contest with a 3-18 overall record and a 3-12 PWC mark. They have dropped their last two games, but defeated Hawaii Hilo 74-57 on Feb. 7. They average just 60.6 points per game and shoot 34.6 percent from the field. They are led in scoring  by Lila Maio at 11.9 ppg and she also leads in rebounding at 7.0 rpg.

LAST TIME OUT: ST GEORGE, Utah – The Dixie State University women's basketball team ran its winning streak to three games with a 77-54 win over University of Hawaii Hilo on Thursday night in the Burns Arena.

The Red Storm (11-11/9-7 PWC) even its record at .500 for the first time since Jan. 6 due in part to the offensive prowess of Pacific West leading scorer Haley Holmstead (American Fork, UT/American Fork) and the rebounding of Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, UT/Emery). Holmstead finished with 39 points and Mann set a school record by grabbing 26 rebounds en route to earning her seventh double double of the season. The previous record was 20 held by Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ). After a first half that saw both team shoot at 30 percent and manage just 26 points each, the Storm unleashed their fury on the Vulcans by scoring 51-second half points and shooting 55.6 percent. With the score tied at 43-43 with 12:35 left, DSU used a 13-0 run to separate themselves from the Vulcans and cruise to victory. DSU only turned the ball over 11 times in the game and outrebounded UHH 51-36 to grab the victory. Holmstead connected on 16-28 from the field, a record for field goals made at DSU and Mann added 15 points in the win. McKenzie Mangino scored 13 points in the loss for Hawaii Hilo which dropped to 6-12 overall and 5-9 in the PacWest.

RED STORM NOTES: Win streak it is for the Red Storm as they have won three straight and look to make it the fourth on Saturday night against Chaminade. With a victory, DSU will be over .500 for the first time this season and will also match their longest winning streak of four games. They are currently 11-11 overall and 9-7 in PWC. Leading the way is PWC scoring leader Haley Holmstead (American Fork, UT/American Fork), she averages 23.0 ppg after her 39-point performance against Hawaii Hilo. Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, UT/Emery) made a charge having collected 19 and a record setting 26 rebounds the past two games. She is now the team leader at 8.9 rpg and fourth in the PWC in that category.

Dixie State shoots 37.7 percent from the field, 25.5 percent from three-point range, and 71.5 percent from the free-throw line. They continue to score (73.09 ppg) at will, but the defense has been the thorn in the heel. They allow 75.77 ppg and commit 20.1 turnovers per game.
