Mann sets school-record for Rebounds with 26 in Storm 77-54 Win

Box Score ST GEORGE, Utah – The Dixie State University women's basketball team ran its winning streak to three games with a 77-54 win over University of Hawaii Hilo on Thursday night in the Burns Arena.

The Red Storm (11-11/9-7 PWC) even its record at .500 for the first time since Jan. 6 due in part to the offensive prowess of Pacific West leading scorer Haley Holmstead (American Fork, UT/American Fork) and the rebounding of Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, UT/Emery). Holmstead finished with 39 points and Mann set a school record by grabbing 26 rebounds en route to earning her seventh double double of the season. The previous record was 20 held by Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ).

After a first half that saw both team shoot at 30 percent and manage just 26 points each, the Storm unleashed their fury on the Vulcans by scoring 51 second half points and shooting 55.6 percent.

With the score tied at 43-43 with 12:35 left, DSU used a 13-0 run to separate themselves from the Vulcans and cruise to victory.

DSU only turned the ball over 11 times in the game and outrebounded UHH 51-36 to grab the victory.

Holmstead connected on 16-28 from the field, a record for field goals made at DSU and Mann added 15 points in the win.

McKenzie Mangino scored 13 points in the loss for Hawaii Hilo which dropped to 6-12 overall and 5-9 in the PacWest.

The Red Storm wraps its six game home stand on Saturday night with Chaminade at 5 pm inside the Burns Arena.
