Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) scored a game-high 26 points and
Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, UT/Emery) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Dixie State women's basketball team to its first win of the young season on Saturday afternoon.

Jenny Thigpin said. "The girls stayed together and pulled it out in the end as a team. We were abler to get the ball inside and knock down outside shots.

After Cal State San Marcos (1-4) took a 3-point lead to start the game, Dixie State (1-2) went on a 7-0 run to take the lead and didn't give it up the rest of the first half.
Miller had 18 points at halftime on 5 of 8 shooting with two triples mixed in. She finished with her 26 on 7 of 15 for the day and knocked down four treys. She was a perfect 8 of 8 from the charity stripe.Â
Dixie State had just one missed freebie all game.
Mann's added two assists and two blocks to her double-double performance. Six of her 14 boards came off the offensive glass.
Leslie Tademy (Phoenix, AZ/South Mountain) added 11 points and five assists in a solid game at the point.
The Red Storm pushed the lead to as many as 14 in the first half but the Cougars made things interesting in the second half of action.
Cal State San Marcos came all the way back to tie it at 49-49 with 5:48 to play, and then even took a four-point edge with just over four minutes remaining.
Trailing by one, Miller knocked down a three from the corner to give Dixie State a 56-55 lead again with 3:43 to go, and followed it up with another trey on the next trip down the floor from the other corner to make it 59-55 and give the Storm some breathing room.
The Red Storm were able to hold off any more advances and pull out the 67-62 win over the Cougars.
Dixie State plays at Central Washington on Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. MT.
