Red Storm move up to 8th in regional rankings, at FPU Saturday

With an NCAA West Regional berth on the line, Dixie State visits Fresno Pacific Saturday in the last regular season match

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Dixie State moved up one crucial spot in the latest NCAA Volleyball West Region rankings, giving the Red Storm a coveted spot in the NCAA West Regional Tournament if the season ended today. The Red Storm however, have work left to do with one more regular season matchup to deal with, a trip to Fresno Pacific on Saturday.

Dixie State (19-8, 16-3) has won four of its last five matches and closes out the regular season at Fresno Pacific (20-7. 14-4) on Saturday at 3 p.m. PT/4 p.m. MT in the only meeting between the two schools this year. The Red Storm need to beat FPU and have No. 9 BYU-Hawaii lose two matches to win the conference title.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL STORYLINES

FINAL REGULAR SEASON MATCH
Dixie State has an opportunity to notch its 20th win of the season in the final match of the regular season against Fresno Pacific. The Sunbirds are also finishing the regular season against Dixie State.

GOODBYE SENIORS
The Red Storm honored four seniors last week, including Kara Cotter (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane), Kendahl Weiland (Albany, OR/West Albany), Maddie Rex (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) and Nicole Koehler (Sandy, UT/Alta). The four will be playing in their last regular season match of their careers.

FRESNO PACIFIC
Fresno Pacific has won 13 of its last 14 matches, with Cal Baptist visiting Fresno on Friday night before the Red Storm visit the Sunbirds. Kathleen Anderson is one of the top players in the PacWest, with 316 total kills and a 3.16 kills per set mark. Earlier in the season, Fresno Pacific defeated then No. 4 BYU-Hawaii in Hawaii, the first time the Seasiders have lost at home in four years.
