When offensive numbers are deceiving: Last Saturday, Dixie State outgained Simon Fraser in total yardage, 330-280. It was the second time in 2014 in which DSU has outgained an opponent, yet felt defeat (week one at Colorado Mesa). The Clan scored 13 points on offense (touchdown, two FGs) and 16 points with their defense and special teams (safety, fumble return, punt return).

Running with the Wolves: Saturday's game will be the 15th overall meeting between Dixie State and Western Oregon since 2007. WOU has a 12-2 advantage in the all-time series and is unbeaten playing against the Storm on their home turf at McArthur Field (7-0). Dixie State is currently on a three-game skid against the Wolves, winning for the last time in the series on Sept. 8, 2012. The Wolves has averaged 54.3 points over the last three games while the Storm, in comparison, have averaged 28.6 points in the same span.

Arne's Wolf Pack: Western Oregon enters Saturday as the last GNAC team to play a counter game towards the championship race. The Wolves are 2-3 overall with wins against Simon Fraser and Central Washington. Their losses have come to Division I FCS Portland State, Humboldt State and Division II No. 5 North Alabama. Quarterback Ryan Bergman leads the GNAC with 309 passing yards per game, but he did not travel with WOU last week to Alabama. Wide receiver Paul Revis ranks fourth in the country averaging 203.0 all-purpose yards a game. Western Oregon ranks fourth in the GNAC in both scoring offense and scoring defense.

GNAC review: Azusa Pacific made an emphatic argument in defense of its league title with a 27-20 win on the road against Central Washington. APU led 27-7 at the half behind nearly 200 rushing yards from Terrell Watson. The senior RB finished the day with 256 yards on the ground and is currently the NCAA Division II leader in rushing yards. Western Oregon fell to No. 5 North Alabama on the road, 30-10. The Wolves played without the services of QB Ryan Bergman and WR Tyrell Williams. Nationally ranked Humboldt State made it five straight W's with a 53-0 shutout at home over South Dakota Mines.

Brum's coaching ledger: Scott Brumfield is in his fifth year as head coach of the Storm. Brumfield has a 10-37 collegiate coaching record. Prior to being Dixie State's head coach, Brumfield was offensive coordinator at DSU. He was the head coach at his alma mater, Spanish Fork High School before moving to DSU.
