Box Score ST. GEORGE, Utah - Staying hot at the right time, the Dixie State women's volleyball team stayed unbeaten in Pacific West Conference Play with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-22) win over Azusa Pacific on Friday night.

Dixie State (9-5, 6-0) dominated the first two sets and had enough momentum to ride out a tight third set to win. Maddie Rex (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) and Edithza Urias (Bakersfield, CA/Golden Valley) had double digit kills with 10 apiece. 

Azusa Pacific (7-7, 4-2) had trouble getting started in both of the first two sets. In the third they gave the Red Storm a battle right to the end before DSU finished off the match.

Leading 11-9 in the second set, Dixie State scored five straight to set the tone early and take a 16-9 edge. The Red Storm went on a 9-5 clip to close the first set 25-14.

The second set got away from the Cougars early when Dixie State went on another run. The Storm went on a 6-0 run leading 6-4 to go up 12-4 and keep the charge going. Dixie State stayed out in front and never let up, cruising to a 25-13 win in the second set.

In set three, a renewed Azusa Pacific gave the Red Storm a challenge right to the finish. Dixie State seemed to be in control at 16-9 but the Cougars got hot, rattling off six straight to make it a one-point game. After the Red Storm built a 19-15 edge, Azusa came back again to cut the lead to 21-20. A service error for the Cougars and an ace from the Red Storm turned the tide, and DSU held off Azusa Pacific 25-22 to win the match in straight sets.

Dixie State takes on Point Loma, also undefeated in PacWest play, Saturday at noon.
