Box Score BELMONT, Calif. -- The Dixie State women's volleyball team cruised to its second Pacific West Conference victory in as many days as they defeated Notre Dame de Namur in straight sets tonight.
The Red Storm (5-3/2-0) jumped out in front in the first of the Argonauts (2-9/0-3) by winning the first game 25-19.
But the fight in NDNU would not expire as they forced the match into extra points in both the second and third games. DSU battled back in both games with solid play from their outside hitters.
Shannon Young (Whittier, CA/St Paul) closed out the second game with consecutive kills to lead the Red Storm to a 26-24 win. In the third game, a trio of DSU players helped them pull out the 28-26 win.
"I felt we put together a complete game tonight," said head coach
Robyn Felder. "We really tried to plays till the end."
Maddie Rex (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) finished with 10 kills and
Nicole Koehler (Sandy, UT/Alta) hit .571 with a team-high 12 kills in victory.
DSU has a day off before finishing the Bay Area road trip with a match on Monday with Dominican and Tuesday with Academy of Art.
