STORM TRAVEL TO MONMOUTH FOR GNAC TEST AGAINST WESTERN OREGON
Dixie State will travel to Western Oregon on Saturday, Sept. 21 for a battle in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. Pacific time (2 p.m. Mountain) and be broadcast on the radio via ESPN SportsRadio 106.1 & online at DixieAthletics.com/Showcase with John Potter calling the action.

RED STORM VS. THE WOLVES
In 12 previous meetings, the Western Oregon Wolves have beat Dixie State on 10 seperate occasions, including five of the last six matchups. Last year, the home team was victorious in GNAC contests. Dixie State defeated WOU 24-10 on Sept. 8, 2012 to break a four-game skid. Five weeks later, Western Oregon celebrated a Homecoming win over DSU, 66-20. The Red Storm are 0-6 all-time at McArthur Stadium in Monmouth. The Storm had its best shot in 2009, leading 16-14 late in the fourth quarter until Kelly Morgan, then a freshman, booted a 46-yard field goal with 3:39 left in the game to win 17-16. Both DSU victories have come at Hansen Stadium – the aforementioned win last year and a 31-23 victory in 2009 behind five interceptions by the defense – two each from Wesley Beaver and Russ Doman.

NEW SPOTS AGAIN IN THE DEFENSIVE STARTING LINEUP
Three changes are expected for the DSU defense heading into Saturday's game at Western Oregon. Returning to the lineup at cornerback is Jamal Smith (Oxnard, CA/Oxnard) after he missed last week's game with a hamstring injury. Alshondre Smith (Stone Mountain, GA/Wesson HS), last week's starter, will back up Jamal Smith (Oxnard, CA/Oxnard). Two weeks after moving from safety to linebacker, sophomore Robert Metz (Tucson, AZ/Canyon Del Oro) is getting the starting nod at one of the two outside linebacker positions. He will share time with the starter from the opening two weeks, junior Austen Richards (Ogden, UT/Bonneville). Marquece Galway (Los Angeles, CA/George Washington Prep) will get the start at strong safety, moving from cornerback. Galway will be the third different player to start at free safety this season (Metz, Moffett).

RUN DOWN BY THE COUGARS
Terrell Watson rushed for 165 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Cougars to a 16-point win at Saint George ... Watson gave the Cougars an early 6-0 lead breaking away for a 54-yard touchdown on the fourth offensive play of the game surpassing the 2,000-yard career rushing barrier in the process.  Jamie Cacciatore then booted a 52-yard field goal – equaling the third longest in GNAC history – to stretch APU's lead to 36-7. Dixie scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns as Brody Garr (Taylor, UT/Fremont) came off the bench to toss 24 and 17-yard TD passes to tight end Joe Don Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) and Antonio Morton (Seattle, WA/Ballard). Dixie quarterbacks Griff Robles (Spanish Fork, UT/Spanish Fork) (17-30-1, 212) and Garr (13-19-0, 155) combined for 367 passing yards.  The Red Storm, however, rushed for only 13 yards and were outgained by Azusa 391-380.   DSU's Myles Burton (Berkeley, CA/Rodriguez) (68 yards) and Duncan (63) each had five receptions. Dixie linebacker Jake Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) led all tacklers with a total of 14.

A WIN BY DIXIE STATE WOULD...
• Break a seven-game losing streak dating back to October 13, 2012.
• Be the eighth win in the month of September since the NCAA D-II transition in 2006; DSU is 7-24 in September games

ALL-AMERICAN DUNCAN
Senior tight end Joe Don Duncan (Corona, CA/Notre Dame) (Corona, CA) returns for his highly anticipated final year holding a prestigious accolade. Duncan was named to the D2Football.com Preseason All-American List on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Two seasons ago, Duncan earned all-league, all-region and multiple All-American honors after leading the country in receptions and yardage for a tight end. Phil Steele listed him as the 27th best draft eligible TE available and Lindy's Sports Annuals "Look Ahead" named Duncan as the ninth best TE in the country.
