HONOLULU -- No. 23 Dixie State softball split a doubleheader with Chaminade today, winning game one 6-3 and losing the second game 7-1.

In game one, the Red Storm trailed 3-0 until the top of the 7th inning when they rallied the troops and scored six runs to escape the jaws of defeat. With the score tied 3-3, Sierra Phillips hit her second home run of the season and gave the Red Storm the victory.

Michelle Duncan (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) entered in relief of Mattie Snow (Tooele, UT/Tooele High School) and picked up the win pitching the final three innings, allowing just one hit and striking out seven to improve to 6-2 on the season.

Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley High School) and Phillips each had two hits for the Red Storm.

In game two, the Red Storm committed eight errors for the second time this season as the Silverswrods capitalized and defeated DSU 7-1.

Starter Kate Coffey (Fallon, NV/Churchill County High School) lasted just one and one third innings and Duncan entered and pitched another four and two thirds innings in relief allowing three hits and striking out four.

The Red Storm continue their road trip on Monday with a doubleheader at Hawaii Pacific at 5 pm MT.
