In game two, DSU jumped to an early lead when Brown RBI single scored Judkins from second base. Cue followed with and RBI single to center field scored Hine. Reiter added a two RBI single down the left field line to give the Storm a 4-0 lead.
Brown picked up her second RBI of the game when she singled up the middle scoring Judkins who reached on a double of her own to give DSU a 5-0 lead.
ARTU managed to chase Red Storm starter
Mattie Snow (Tooele, UT/Tooele High School) in the fourth inning as they clawed their way back to tie the game at 6-6. The Urban Knights scored three runs in the third and fourth innings.
With the score tied at 6-6, Brown made light work of the Urban Knights as she led off the fourth with her third home run of the year and second of the day.
Kate Coffey (Fallon, NV/Churchill County High School) entered the game in relief of Snow, pitching solid to improve to 3-2. She struck out two hitters and allowed three hits in three and two thirds of work.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Red Storm added two more runs thanks to a clutch at bat by Judkins. She singled down the left field line for her third hit of the game and added two RBI and that gave Coffey a little more cushion as they headed to the final frame.
Brown and Judkins each finished with three hits, while
Courtney Sherwin (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School) and Bufton each had two.
The final two games of the series are tomorrow at 3 pm at Karl Brooks Field.
